Our Process
Pinehurst Design Build keeps it awesomely simple. With decades of experience, we have streamlined a remodeling process that is notoriously complicated and often unpleasant. Our design-build approach unifies planning, design, and construction under one roof, giving us a platform to realize your unique vision. When you sign with Pinehurst Design Build, you join a leading team of architects, designers, master craftsmen, and project managers with impeccable reputations and proven results.
There are three phases in the process:
Explore: First, we’ll listen and learn about your dreams and goals for your project. During this phase, our design team will work with you to explore possibilities and create a customized plan, which includes drawings, material selections, and pricing. Once you approve the design and budget, the construction phase begins.
Build: During the construction phase, a designated master craftsman and a project manager will continually communicate with you and our team of architects and designers. This collaborative approach yields efficiencies in time and cost savings.
Enjoy: At Pinehurst Design Build, we believe your home transformation should be beautifully designed, flawlessly executed, and unexpectedly fun. Enjoy!
Our Founder
Tom Gilday is a DC native with over 40 years of experience at his previous company, Gilday Renovations. Tom is widely known and respected in the industry and throughout the metro area for renovations that are beautifully designed and expertly built. Today, he continues his craft with his new company, Pinehurst Design Build. With an artisan’s eye and a builder’s precision, Tom personally approaches each project by first getting to know his client and then getting to know their home.
“I find it extremely gratifying to bring structure to someone’s remodeling project, but what I love even more is forming relationships with my clients,” says Tom, “it’s the people who live inside the homes that give our projects real meaning.”
A true art lover, Tom can be found giving tours at the National Gallery of Art, where he has been a docent since the program’s inception. He believes that “A well-designed home is like art. They both make you feel good.”
When he’s not working, Tom loves running through Rock Creek Park before the sun comes up, perfecting his golf game, and sharing a good cup of coffee with his wife and four children on Saturday mornings.
